The Vexter one is the exact same except for an added LED, 9v power supply adapter and it's not painted.

No. Admittedly from Zack himself. The hand painted units have a lifetime warranty (even if bought used), and the other series has a limited warranty of which I don't know specifically.
If you appreciate "art" and the uniqueness associated with a handpainted exterior.., go with that, if you could care less., go the other route. Of course if the warranty makes a difference to you, then you have an option either way.

Sound should be the same, but keep in mind that some of the work on the Vexter is done overseas, and the original is all soldered at Zack's place. However, considering the tolerances of the Ge transistors, I'm sure you'd get more varation from FF to FF than Original to Vexter.

Both are the same...100% the same except the actual housing.
