this is quite a compliment to seymour duncan consdiering EVERTHING ELSE

hey mums the word but i am trying my best to get HIM to come on the forum!

BUT i did mean everything i said he is the baddest mutha around and should be
KNOWN as the GUITAR HERO he deserves to be
I love his combonation of melody and aggression
he like so many others does not play fast just for the sake of playing fast
he does it ONLY when it fits!

Really? I've always gotten the impression from things that I've read that he is rather full of himself.

He is *very* talented, his playing just doesn't appeal to me very much.

i found it odd that he brought an Eb tuned guitar to a jam where other guitarists were going to be playing guitars in standard tuning ... didnt show much consideration for avoiding a mismatch ... i also found it odd that he claimed "i don't know songs (his emphasis)" while standing on the stage with the other musicians trying to decide what to play ... and once it was decided what to play, he didnt seem to be 'listening' to the other players in a way that indicated he was interested in engaging in a musical 'conversation' ... he seemed to be up there 'saying what he had to say' without much regard for the other players ....

of course, his chops and tone are always above reproach ... masterful talent

Actually I read an interview that said early on he used a Duncan Distortion, EMG 81, JB, and later the Screamin Demon.

I don't care for him myself.

I’ll add my name to the list. I’ve been an avid Lynch fan since a friend introduced me to Dokken back in high school. Since then he’s been one of my guitar idols. He’s an absolute master on the fretboard.

As far as his attitude… if I were that good I’d probably have the same outlook. Sad, but true.

Interesting observations, t4d! I thought it was a little weird too, when they
had to stop and restart in a different key due to the tuning of GL's guitar...
and he was definitely focused on his soloing when they got going.

In George's defense, I got to chat with him for a few minutes at the hotel
ATM after the jam...very low key and pleasant to talk with, just a normal
guy attitude!

the 2 times that i have had to speak with MR scary he was laid back and down to earth very zen . and then you have the killer chops and smokin' tone ! huge fan !!!!!!!!!!

Lynch Rocks! Got to see him with Dokken in `84 and `88 and he was on fire! I`ve always loved his heavy overdriven tone.

I know what T4D is saying about Lynch as a 'guy in a jam situation.'

George is a musician with the amazing skill of playing metal better than almost anyone. He is an artist and does what he does very well. He's not an extremely well rounded player, or one that can be in a different musical situation. I've seen him several times in those situations, and he just walks in with a guitar tuned wrong for the occasion, and figures out the chord changes, and then does his style over it.

That's no burn, since I stood onstage trading some licks with him during the UGD soundcheck. He's furious on his great vocabulary of rock licks, and that's what he's famous for. He's never claimed to be a player who can fit in on any style. He's pure George, all the time.
