The Importance of trem springs?

Is it hugely downplayed? I think so, based on my recent findings.

I changed GFS trem block from my Squier CV to one from Am. deluxe strat. Deluxe springs were flexier than stock ones it had, which made trem to float after setup. That resulted in completely flattened and dull tone, it also lost that brilliant resonance, the guitar had. (I also changed trem plate for a sturdier one, and vintage saddles for cast ones).

Obviously I thought the lackluster tone was was because of the floating trem (and maybe the saddles). So I removed american deluxe springs and put the stiff stock ones back trying to get it flush. Trem stayed floating almost on the same position. But... The brilliant tone I liked with that guitar was back. Maybe just a tad less lively, but in that case, it's for the good actually.

After that I had to test further and switched the middle spring for am. deluxe one and left stock ones on the sides. Result was perfect! Lows got much needed depth and dynamics, but singing quality of mids and highs stayed. Trem also works much smoother now.

When you TEST, you change one thing at a time before drawing your conclusions.
You don't change 3 things, and blame 1.

Yeah, when I read it I was thinking the change could either be because of the saddles, trem block, or from inadvertently floating the trem. But it can be hard to tell on matters relating to the bridge, because in most cases you have to change the strings when you do the mod, which makes a major difference in tone.

I find it hard to believe a guitar can have its tone killed with 3 springs.

I believe this. My uv70p's springs were super noisy, after I put silenced springs some of the sustain came back. I mean all this energy to rattle the springs must come from somewhere right?

It's good practice to read and make sure you understand what you read before drawing conclusions do you think:

I never blamed springs for the lackluster tone UNTIL I switched the old springs back. I didn't change anything else, and the tone I liked was back despite everything else being different.

What's your point?
You TEST to find out.

ever thought that there might be an AND condition between two (or more) variables in order to make some difference? (I am using boolean algebra terminology in case of doubt look it up).
Anyways, this is theoretical, since the Jacew only changed one thing at a time.
