The J-Custom has Duncans in there...

Well, I'm extremely happy to see Ibanez's top-of-the-line RG featuring a set of Seymour Duncans in there.

I'm not at State-side but our version (RG8420Z) features the same pair of Duncans as well (C5 bridge + Jazz neck).

I just need some info from the good people who are in the know if this is a long term arrangement between Seymour Duncan & Ibanez. Duncan made me happy when they did a collaboration for the SZ series which are now defunct. Thereafter, there was a brief Duncan stint in the RG2610 which I own, then nothing happened. Ibanez-DiMarzio are virtually synonymous but there are people out there who make better music with Duncans in their Ibanez.

Those Ibanez/Seymour Duncan pickups in the late SZ models were great!

I think they were tweaked '59 and Distortion models for that particular guitar...
anyone knows about that?

Seems like it might be, but it appears to be selective - some of the MIK/MII guitars in the past decade have boasted Duncan Designed pups. Then there's signature models to consider - Mick Thomson's has Blackouts.

I guess they're aware not everyone likes DiMarzio so they offer other stuff, but who's gonna pay for J-Custom just so they can get Duncans? Maybe they're testing the water still
