Hello to all. Rencently I acquired a Schecter C1 with EMG in it, but I want to change them... I am really interested in the alumitones pickups, but I have some questions about them.

1. Is there a big difference btween the regular alumitones and the deathbuckers?

2. The regular alumitones can play Modern metal well?

3. They really need 250k pots?

Regular Alumitones are NOT good for any dirt, whatsoever. I bought a set years ago because they look cool and instantly regretted it. Somehow, they sound both thin AND mushy on the bottom, like the worst single coils, ever.

Deathbuckers, on the other hand, are bright and tight with great mids and they are fantastic with gain. And quiet!

I pretty much agree with everything said above.

The regular Alumitones are NOT very good for any heavier styles requiring tightness or articulation.

Deathbuckers are indeed a major improvement on the original design in that regard

Alumitone neck, Deathbucker bridge is a pretty standard configuration. Plenty versatile too.

Never used a deathbucker; however, I have a set of alumitones in an SG copy. Sound great and have no issues with playing 'Metal' with them. 500k pots work just fine.
