Just received this
The new generation of the Krank Krankenstein. Krank now use vintage american made transformers. The sound of this amp is just amazing; clearer, punchier with a modern vibe into it and more smoother sounding than the former generation. Its got enormous power but can be use in house and still retain punch, clarity and tone.
This amp is two channels with a mid boost on the lead/gain channel which act like a 3 channel; the mid boost really change the sound into a much more compressed-liquid sound. Without the boost, the gain channel can be use for both rhythm and lead. It also has that distinct voicing in the mid that is very present. Far better than anything i've ever tried before. The punch and clarity is a step above.
Clean channel is also superb.
Preamp has 4 x 12ax7 and tube in the loop, Fx loop is true bypass, 4x 6550 powertubes. The circuit also has a op-amp boost that give more grit on the gain channel. The 6550 power tubes are so tight. They also use a little amount of negative feedback to smooth out the top end. The amp can take ANY octal tube (bias current may be reset) : 6L6, EL34, KT88, KT66, IE90, 6550...
I would recommend this amp to any rock/metal guy outhere that need a perfect mix between a 90s/2000s sound with all the benefits of a modern moded amplifier. Just awesome.
