Re: The Other Jeff Has A New Family Member As Well...(PICS)

I'm totally engrossed with this top...whether it be a veneer or a cap, I'm not sure, but it's damned beautiful to me. Keep in mind, this is the first guitar I've ever had that isn't all black ;)

If the pics are too big, lemme know.

Cool! Looks friggin nice, man. Strangely enough, that's exactly what I pictured when you were telling me about it on AIM. Jackson are deadly guitars indeed! :) Enjoy it, dude.

Re: The Other Jeff Has A New Family Member As Well...(PICS)

Although it's hard to tell I'd bet that it's a cap. It's bookmatched and the closeup of the grain seems to have that deep look that veneers don't usually have. Awesome axe and I'm glad to see you went with the hard tail. :)

That's an awsome looking guitar bro. I love the 3 tone burst on that, and the string through. It's a nice looking axe. At first I looked at the headstock and said WTF, that's not what a Jackson should look like, but upon further review I dig it.

How do you like the HZ's?

Re: The Other Jeff Has A New Family Member As Well...(PICS)

The headstock is one of my favorite things, I love 3+3 tuners, and it set's it apart from all other Jackson's I think. I really love the color as well, looks like it belongs in the desert.

The Hz's are alright...the bridge needs to go, but the neck pickup...oh man, It's staying, and since the bridge and neck are the same, the bridge might replace my 59n in the Schecter. For cleans its actually glassy and very nice sounding, roll off the tone a bit and I get a very nice solo tone. For distortion, it's perfectly defined, with enough output (13.49k) to have some balls. Roll off the volume a bit and I have a nice light overdriven tone, really a great pickup, and I had already planned to throw a Jazz in!

The guitar acoustically compare to my (set neck, mohogany body, maple neck) is both brighter and more articulate, and has an extra snap to it that I really dig. I'm guessing that's due to the maple cap and alder body, as well as the bolt-on joint. I always used to dismiss bolt-ons, I dunno why. Has just as much sustain as the Shecter, and fret access isn't an issue at all.

I'm leaning on a Custom for the bridge, or maybe an Invader, not sure yet. Just has to be defined under high gain, have the low end to counteract alder and maple, and be nice and airy (open sounding).

Mucho sexy dude! Congrats on the classy axe!

Re: The Other Jeff Has A New Family Member As Well...(PICS)

that's one killer axe :headbang:

How much those things run? I'm getting a bit GASsy looking at that pic :laugh2:

Re: The Other Jeff Has A New Family Member As Well...(PICS)

i like that headstock a lot

+ its hardtail!

sweet axe man :D

Re: The Other Jeff Has A New Family Member As Well...(PICS)

awesome guitar....I played on a all black one the other day
...talk about GAS!!!
a little pricy for me right now though....
I would say custom for the bridge bro, if not then a full shred.

my .02 cents.

That's one of the coolest Jacksons I've seen! I like that headstock so much more than the birdhead type. Classy looking axe! You probably don't need to change a thing on it either.

Ahh the praise of GJ, one of the things I've coveted the most in life ;)

I too like it alot more, and the tuners and bridge are actually rock solid. Tuners hold very well, feel very solid. Just need a Custom bridge...

For sure. If GJ says you've done good....then you know it's true. Hell, GJ uses for firewood what most of us would kill to play, and wipes with import guitars that cost almost a grand. :laugh2:

That must sound badass thru your XXX!

youre one lucky dude-when i was 13 i was stuck with my gax ($149.99!) and my infamous turd bucket, LOL!. Enjoy the equipment and play in a band if you aren't already playing in one. As soon as highschool ends and all you move out to college you'll wish you rocked out while you were still able to!
