Will the real Vox please stand up....no, not you Chinaman.....not you modeler.....ah YES, JMI. It's about time, although the price isn't gonna be pretty. At least it's a real amp, made the way they did it in the 60's. Jennings Musical Industries.

I guess the exchange rate has gone up but IMO it's still very much worth it!
That same amp can be built for much less than half of that cost, even with quality iron and a custom cab from armadillo amps and some Red Fang speakers... but I guess if building aint you're thing...

Still. 3.7 grand is a LOT for a non-channel switching amp. I'm not sure of the going rate on Bogners, but for that price, Reindholt would be my man.

Those amps better CHIRP for that price!

Re: the return of real uk made voxs?

DIY amps or small name amps are great amps and often better than standar production amps but they have little to no resale value.

As the current prices of vintage JMI Vox amps I would say that $3700 isnot out of line at all...plus they are doing a 4 hole which is a great amp. If i were gonna buy a Vox amp today thats what I woudl get...killer parts, handwired, killer iron and the right speakers...I bet they sound amazing!

I had no idea how much vintage AC30's were going for. The 4 hole is just the Normal and Top Boost channels right? I've heard the Vib/Trem channel with the speed set to 0 (no modulation) is the ideal mid-rangey, nasaly vox tone... but that's a whole second board I'd have to wire up to include so I'm leaving that out.

If you want to know what it will cost, check what they are charging for Marshalls in the adds in the Brit mags and then compare it to the discounter prices in the US. The Brits have to pay at least 15% in VAT. Also, the big guys won't be charging MSRP when it arrives here.

Re: the return of real uk made voxs?

Yep, first found out about those things on TGP... I can't wait to play one (that's if anybody local will ever start carrying them). If they are as good as the original JMI-era Vox AC-30s, they'll be well worth the money.

Let's just hope they've figured out how to make them not blow up, I know they're supposed to be replicas, but the modern musician expects reliability as well ;)

THanks for saving me the effort ;)

Re: the return of real uk made voxs?

Keep in mind that gear prices in the UK suck major balls.
We're gonna see under 3000 dollars in the USA for sure.

One question,,, why is it JMI and not VOX???
Why would I wanna pay so much when the punter will say 'WTF IS JMI', 'Looks like a cheap VOX knockoff'.
I know u dont buy amps for looks or the punter, but really, comeon.

Because if I rememver correctly, the guy who originally owned Vox (or the guy who designed it, I forget) has/had the initials JMI.

He's now nothing to do with Vox the company as it stands today, so can't put them out under the name of 'Vox'.

I may be wrong on this, but this is what I recall reading somewhere.

We have to pay 17.5% in VAT. Gear is a rip off here, ebay is the only way to go for my GAS.
