The sound of my RGT42 with SH6b?

I know the RGT42 isn't a great guitar but...I replaced the stock INF2 with a SH6b in the bridge - when I play around the 7th to 9th frets on the G and B strings (lead lines) it has this whinning tone that just doesn't sound quite right to me. I know it's subjective but is this the nature of this guitar? I am using a Tonebone classic and an Epiphone Valve Standard.

Check your guitar accoustically ; play it while putting your ear on the top horn . Some guitar have a special resonnance at some frequencies and those frequencies can be amplified by the p-u .
If it is not a general problem of being too treebly or too bassy , it should be something like that .
Or perhaps your strings are rattling between the 7-th and the 9-th fret ?
or a piece is loose and vibrate this those frequencies ?

Thanks for the tip! I think it's just the sound of the guitar, I'm so use to standard guitars like LP's, Tele's etc, this is my first "modern" rock guitar.

Not a great guitar? I have the fixed bridge version and it is probably my fave player. I am searching for that perfect bridge pickup. I currently have a JB/Jazz combo but just ordered a Distortion, the pickup you have to replace the JB. I will let you know the difference. I have been thru a lot of guitars recently and keep coming back to this one.

I have the Floating Trem bridge and I really don't like it, it takes about three days of playing and tuning then re-tuning before it's stable when you replace strings. My last two guitars were a Gretsch Duo Jet re-issue and a Les Paul, those were solid well made guitars - the RGT42 feels a little flimsy imo. Other than that it looks killer :smokin: I have the Pearl Black one. It sounds much better with the Distortion pup in the bridge.
