Tone Wizard Results:
Selection
Instrument: Guitar
Guitar Type: Stratocaster or similar
Music Style:Blues Country
Guitar body wood: Ash or Alder
Fretboard wood: Maple
Bridge Type: Standard

Bridge 1 Antiquity Strat Custom Bridge
Bridge 2 SSL52-1 5/2 Nashville Studio
Neck 1 Antiquity Strat Texas Hot
Neck 2 SSL-1 Vintage Staggered
Middle 1 SSL-1 Vintage Staggered
Middle 2 APS-1 Alnico II Pro - Staggered

So what does this mean? Load my Strat with all the "1's" or all the "2's?"

I am basically looking to replace the factory pickups on a 2008 China Strat which currently has:
Pickups: 3 Custom Vintage Style Single-Coil Strat® Pickups with Staggered, AlNiCo 3 Magnet Pole .

Or if anyone has a suggestion for all three pickups I am listening.
Or should I even bother with new pickups since I am having fun with the guitar as is? Will spending $200+ on pickups wow me compared to what is on there?

Thanks,
Patrick

No one here with any experience uses the Tone Wizard. Even Duncan said it needs to be revamped. If you have questions, ask us.

+1

Given that solid body electric guitars built from Alder or Ash will produce different natural acoustic resonances, it stands to reason that the same pickup may not suit the two timbers equally. Ignore the wizard. Trial and error is the normal method.

The guitar under discussion is a Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster. Its stock pickups are made by Tonerider. I find these perfectly acceptable on a couple of my less expensive guitars.

I suggest that you keep your stock A3 pickups in the neck and middle positions. Install a higher output pickup for the bridge position. For instance, the Tonerider TRS-2. I would also alter the control wiring so that the bridge pickup is connected to the lower tone pot. (There are a couple of ways of achieving this.)

No doubt. The wheels fell off that wagon a long time ago...as well as the wagon that was sent to fix the broken wheel.

Thanks Funkfingers (and thanks blueman335 for your willingness).

You are spot on with the Squire Classic Vibe. That is what it is. The guitar was free. I have really enjoyed it and it does sound great since I set it up. I had purchased some gauges and googled some "How To's" on it, using it to gain some set up experience ahead of a Tele build I am about to get into. Which brings me back to your insight. Since I am about to build a Tele I do not want to spread my money too thin. The point is I am now strongly considering leaving the Strat alone.
