The Ultimate Tele Tone! (by Lew)

This is a very interesting thread, even though i don't own a tele. I now wish i had a tele. :32:

But anyway, there is no reason why this shouldn't be in the vault. The Vault is full of reviews, but none have near as much info as this thread. - and that's what the vault is for right? So, what do you think? Vault material?

once it goes to the vault, though, there aren't any further posts - that's the downside at this point

Thanks guys! Glad you thought it was a good one. (I'm going to do the same thing with an Ultimate Strat test.) I think it should wait for vault status until I've had a chance to check out the new Duncan Custom Shop Tele pickups MJ is winding for me: CS Jerry Donahue, CS Tele neck (a5 polepieces under the cover), CS Tapped Tele (about 6.5K & 10K). I REALLY want that CS Tele neck to be the best Tele neck pickup I've ever used...we'll see. MJ seems very confident it'll be great. Thanks again for your support guys! Lew

One thing I liked about that thread is how things evolved during the test and the way I at first didn't like the NoCasters in my alder Tele and then had to eat my words when I tried them in my swamp ash Tele. That's the way it goes in the real world. I'm going to pull the Nocasters from that guitar tho and try the Antiquitys that are currently in my alder Tele. That alder Tele is a little brighter and I think the Antiquitys should sound even better in the swamp ash Tele...a little smoother. Lew

IIRC, the way the Vaulöt was supposed to work was that if somebody saw a "candidate" that they should give Scott a "heads up" and he´d decide. I´m not quite sure whén it became a democratic issue
