Man I never understand much of what you're saying but uhh, what's the Bill Lawrence pickup sound like and stuff? I've actually never read much about it except that Dime used it.

Re: The Ultimate Thread of all things Bill Lawrence of Ultimate Epicness

Sure, and while we're at it, maybe we can get Seymour Duncan to host a promo for Dimarzio, Fralin, Joe Barden, Kinman and Lace.

Did you forget where you are?

Re: The Ultimate Thread of all things Bill Lawrence of Ultimate Epicness

I have had Bill Lawrence L500XL and L500R for about a year now and really dig them... really feel they are one some of the perfect pickups. A lot of people get turned off because of DIME and the high output, but there are SO many tones to be had in them. Someone else said 59 on steroids... even though they are no where like a PAF (except for clarity, which is not true for all PAFs, and touch sensitivity) they are a different animal. I can get them to sound like PAFs but with a roll of the tone and volume I have total metal meltdown! No adjusting pole pieces...simple. Also like the fact that Bill is a @@$@ fine player and makes funny faces when he plays!

LOL, no!

Re: The Ultimate Thread of all things Bill Lawrence of Ultimate Epicness

He did say Dimebucker too.... and to me Bill Lawrence doesn't compete as much as they are so different... not everyone likes them and they don't offer anything like what Duncan does. Maybe not vault it, but it is a cool idea.

Re: The Ultimate Thread of all things Bill Lawrence of Ultimate Epicness

It's just that this topic comes up, like, several times a year.

We need an end-all-be-all thread for it. People are always asking: "How does the Dime compare to the Bill Lawrence? What?! Bill Lawrence USA?! I'm confused!"

Everyone: "STFU, n00b!"

So, yeah, we need a master thread. This is a good start.

Dude, you seriously need to put the crack pipe down. Only discussing the 500 series pickups from Bill is like saying the only good pickup that SD has to offer is the JB and all of it's derivatives. Bill has several other excellent pickups that are at least equals to the 500 line.

And you have a flaw in your list. There was never a production run of the XXL. There has been 5 of them made, EVER! 2 went to Dimebag and the others went to people close to Bill. That info came from Becky herself. BLUSA has NEVER produced an XXL model. In fact he's never strayed from Bills original designs. Which are in fact the 510 L/R. Which were later redesigned to be the L500L and R. Bill didn't add the XL and C models to the 500 lineup until after he went solo.

Also if you're going ref. Bills pickups, especially the L500 line, You should have the OBL L900 pickups in there as well as the Ultrasonic Ref. 4, 5, and 6. All of those pickups are derivatives of the L500 design.

There's also speculation that Bill helped design the PJ Marx pickups but to what extent I'm not totally sure.

And if you're going to talk about the current 500 series pickups, there should be a ref. to post and pre March 05. Since that's when he switched the 500 line from ceramic to Alnico. There is a difference but not much and you have to have exp w/ both and good ears to hear it.

Understand rubberband?

Well, duh!

The point of this thread is so that we can easily refer to it when the discussion comes up about the L500.

Again, if you read my stuff, you'd know that It's no flaw. Those are the pickups we're going to talk about in here. People are going to ask: "WTF was an L500XXL?" You can't buy it, of course, but it DOES exist. It's no flaw.

Also if you're going ref. Bills pickups, especially the L500 line, You should have the OBL L900 pickups in there as well as the Ultrasonic Ref. 4, 5, and 6. All of those pickups are derivatives of the L500 design.

Actually, you should do a write-up. Yer like another know-it-all when it comes to these things. Instead of acting like a straight-up wanksta, you should actually contribute to this thread, so that it becomes epic in all its epicness.

Quit the foul play, and just contribute. That's all you gotta do. Write up a review of the pickups, we'll chat about it, badda-bing, badda-boom.

I mean, srsly, wouldn't it be easy if one thread had all the info you could ever want about Bill Lawrence/Dimebucker pickups? There's all kinds of info on the Internet, and I'm going to try to bring it all together in this thread.

Really, FretFire. Really. Really.

Re: The Ultimate Thread of all things Bill Lawrence of Ultimate Epicness

Really dude? Honestly theodie, myself, and several others have beaten this subject to death. I'm really quite tired of typing all that stuff out. If you want to create the be all end all thread about L500s then do a search and narrow down the criteria. You'll find more than you'll ever need.

Re: The Ultimate Thread of all things Bill Lawrence of Ultimate Epicness

This is the last time we'll ever have it beat it, just beat it, no one wants to beat it just beat it!

HODE IT UP!

Yeah, I'm going to post all the information I find. The Dean Forum also has some good information about Dimebag's pickups.

Maybe not to-day, maybe not tomorrow, but maybe tomorrow. I'll find all that good stuff and it'll be great, and it'll be good, and we'll all sit and laugh about it.

Re: The Ultimate Thread of all things Bill Lawrence of Ultimate Epicness

Yikes..... I feel like I am watching a movie with a ghetto gangster trying to be hip and falling on his face the whole time... I like the idea behind the thread but quit that slang and weird talking.

Re: The Ultimate Thread of all things Bill Lawrence of Ultimate Epicness

what about the fender SCN BL designed those too!

Re: The Ultimate Thread of all things Bill Lawrence of Ultimate Epicness

Don't forget the L350s. I've got a set of those in a V and they are killer. Same character as the 500s but lower output.
