How well do you know Kirei? :)

Are you really super-into Fenders, or just guitars that fit the profile?

Re: The Well LXXXII: Fender_Punk Sees The Well As Half Full

Why don't spend more time on messenger like you used to?

Don't you love me anymore?

Also, Fender, the amp/guitar company for punks and why. I request a small dissertation on the topic (less than 5000 characters, more than 100).

Re: The Well LXXXII: Fender_Punk Sees The Well As Half Full

Are you a punk? Do you even own a Fender? Wouldn't you really rather be called...oh, say........"First Act Goody-two-shoes"?...Or "Gibson-******".....or even "Martin-Minstrel-Man"....... I mean Fender-punk is such a label..... I just don't see you as a real punk????? LOL!

You've grown quite a bit in your time here.
How do you view some of your early posts as oppossed to how you view things that you post now in relation to some of the early headbutting you encountered as to your reception now?

Great question. I was younger, more full of angst, and at the time was ready to discuss it anywhere. My views since then have changed as I've learned much more, and now to discuss topics not allowed here I go on the Zeitgeist Movement forums.

I've also matured a lot in the 2 years I've been on here. I think living on my own is a big part of that.

There's users here who don't like me, and that's cool, that's why they have an ignore list. I don't need to be everyone's friend.

Don't know her aside from reading her well and other posts on here. I just pm'd her yesterday saying I hadn't done the well, and would like to do it.

I like a lot of Fenders and my favourite guitars are Fenders, that said, I love Gretsch, G&L, PRS, Mosrites, and like some Godins, thin Gibsons with P-90s (LP/SG Jr) and Ibanez Artcores.

I chose my username to be my favourite genre of music and my favourite brand of guitars. Why for punks? Well they cut can through the mix when playing with lots of distortion, can do ska really well, can take a beating, and a great platform for some DIY-modding. Why not? Many guitars can be used for punk, Fenders/Squiers included.

See above answer, however I do love irony and oxymorons, and really it's just a user name. I wouldn't say I'm a "punk" anymore as that's not all I listen to and I no longer like labelling people.

Re: The Well LXXXII: Fender_Punk Sees The Well As Half Full

what do you do (e.g. employed, student, both, other)?

June 20 I started a program at a local youth community centre called Tri-Rock which is a gov't funded employment program. After 8 weeks of skill-building (First Aid, Safe Food Handlers, Workplace Hazardous Materials Info System) and janitorial duties I finished "phase 1" on August 14. I played from 12-2pm the following work week on the roof of a mall downtown, which was fun employment. Tomorrow I have a job interview at a music instrument store where my placement for "phase 2" will be if hired(basically the centre subsidizes the employers my wages for 2 months and after they can keep me on or let me go).

what is your highest level of education

High-school. Graduated on the honour roll, last year, going to apply to college this year to attend in 2010. I am going to study audio production/engineering.

where were you born

Mississauga, which is a city just south of Toronto and part of the Greater Toronto Area.

what is the single most important accomplishment you'd like to achieve before you draw your final breath

Leave this planet in better shape then I found it. #2 would be to rock out to a crowd of 10,000 or more people.

what accomplishment have you achieved that is your proudest

There's many accomplishments I'm proud of, but being that music is such a major part of my life I would say learning to drums, guitar, bass and sing (in that order). I'm now working on keyboard, although I'll really always be learning on any instrument I pick up.

what accomplishment have you achieved that is your most profound regret

Not talking to my father for seven years. I don't want to get into that, but it's my pleasure to we get along better than ever and keep in regular contact.

what do we not know about you that you'd like us to?

I've usually been above the maturity level of my age group and proof of this is that I have (and have had for some time) friends older than myself. I attribute this both to my parents and having two older sisters.

what do we think we know about you that is false

I like guitars other than Fenders, and music other than punk rock.

what are some of the philosophical truths that guide you in your day-to-day?

"The only thing I know is I know nothing" - Socrates
"No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it." - Albert Einstein
"Peace cannot be kept by force; only achieved through understanding" - Albert Einstein.
"Truth is my god and non-violence is my way of realizing him" - Mahatma Gandhi
"Anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices." - Voltaire
"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is just a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather" - Bill Hicks

what did your parents/family of origin do well that you hope to emulate?

Strong work ethic, well-educated, funny, optimistic and determined.

what did your parents/family of origin do not well that you hope to improve upon ?

Some of them have had problems with drugs (including alcohol), and some with gambling.

favorite childhood memory?

Too hard to pick.

tell us one thing that was true about you 5 years ago that is no longer true and you are happy that it is not true

I was closed minded.

tell us one thing that was true about you 5 years ago that is no longer true and you are sad that it is not true

Not "sad" about it but definitely working on is that I'm not as physically fit as I used to be. Not that I've gained a ton of weight, but I've lost my six pack and could use more exercise in my life.

tell us one thing that is not true today but you hope will be true about you in 5 years that you welcome

That I will be able to book gigs and tour whenever I want and will be working on my 4th or 5th album.

tell us one thing that is not true today but that is likely to be true about you in 5 years but that you hope to avoid

Death.

Re: The Well LXXXII: Fender_Punk Sees The Well As Half Full

tell us of your most influential romantic relationship - how did it start - how did it end (if it has ended) - how did it influence who you are today

I guess my last one was the most influential as since about 13 I didn't go more than a few weeks without being in a relationship and after my last one I decided I'd rather stay single for awhile. That relationship started when we met through facebook, met up at my then-band's practise space which wasn't far from her place and lasted from March-November 2008. It ended as I started working evenings and she was in school during the day, not to mention her parents didn't like her having a boyfriend who had his own apartment, and made it difficult for her to see me.

what one thing (that is not about your physical appearance) would you change about yourself today if you had a magic wand that would serve this purpose

To live in the Netherlands, British Columbia, or Spain. Of those three I've only been to BC (which is beautiful) but they all seem like places I'd enjoy living in.

Fender Punk...good to see you back! :)

Re: The Well LXXXII: Fender_Punk Sees The Well As Half Full

tell us a bit about your collection, what was that LP-shaped hollowbody like?
and compare your two teles, they look interesting

Re: The Well LXXXII: Fender_Punk Sees The Well As Half Full

O darn. Is the attention off of me? What the hell guys? hehe.

Someone explain this to me. Is this some sort of SD Forum tradition? Like a roast or something?

I kind of miss the hollow-body, it was all-maple except the rosewood fretboard, but there were a few dead frets and the Strat I traded it for has nice neck and middle pickups, comfy neck and no dead frets, just want to replace the bridge pickup and I'll start using it more.

The two Teles are really neck in neck, can't really pick a favourite. I guess the Fender is a bit more versatile in the tones it can coax but the Squier having the Phat Cat is heavier and crunchier under the same amount of gain, and has a couple nice clean tones, but not as great as the Fender in that department. The necks are the same shape but the Fender is a tad thicker, both feel great though. Both have alder bodies, the Squier being a bit lighter, no more than a pound lighter though. In terms of craftsmanship the '90s Korean Squier (Standard series) seems on par with the '04 MIM Fender.

EDIT: Forgot to mention my Squier Jazz Bass. Great axe for the $150 I paid. Alder body, bare maple neck, nice dark rosewood board with pearl dot inlays. The pickups could be better but I bring it to open jams and it has no problem keeping up or sounding good through the house bass-amp (which granted is fairly big). I want to eventually give it a new pickguard (red) and maybe new pickups.

It's a way to get to better know your forum bros and sisters. It goes for about a week or less if the well has "dried up" (no new questions) or the holder is tired of answering questions.
