Just bought the SH-2 Jazz neck with Nickel Chrome cover and TB-5 Duncan Custom...Now I just have to wait until they get here...I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

i think you'll like the jazz. i went back to the jazz after using the 59. in a live setting, a jazz neck cuts thru unbelievably well and is never muddy. i have a jb in the bridge. i am curious about the custom, and the distortion also.

It was between the JB, Custom and the distortion. For my style which is hard rock metal and some drop tunning. I felt the JB was not enough and the distortion was too much so i went with the middle and decided on the custom. I cant wait to install them and hear what they sound like

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

That's intresting combination. Jazz is not the first choise I'd pick as mate for the Custom trembucker since those two might not balance very well together and compared to Custom the Jazz might be too weak and thin..

I have Custom Trembucker with Alnico II pro on neck and they balance quite well, altough the neck could be just a bit hotter for perfect combination (or, the custom could have slighty less output) Still, I love em both!

Please let us know how they sound :)

In the description of the Jazz SH-2 it says for diverse tone it goes well with the duncan custom. I'll let everyone know how they sound once I install them

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

You'll dig the Custom. I just had one put in my Michael Kelly Patriot a few weeks ago. I play the same style and it's a great pickup. Contemplating getting a Distortion for the neck slot.

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

Wow! So you got them, congrats! ^^

Let me know immediately how they sound as I'll be getting the same pups in the same axe :P

Enjoy 'em!

Are you going to get the nickel cover for the jazz??? Thats what I did I love the look

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

I'm pretty certain you'll like that combo. I have the Custom/Jazz in a LP Goldtop and the tone is huge. The levels aren't mismatched either.

In a PRS Singlecut or LP, that combo rocks.

I cant wait till I get these pups and put them in.

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

The Jazz will give you a good Metallica vibe.

Thanks man!! I know you suggested the custom sh-14 to me. I was going to go with it but I did a bit more research and I felt it was "powerfull" enough so I went with the custom sh-5..I cant wait to put them in

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

Yeah I mean it's the same wind just with a Ceramic in it. I just woulda went the A5 route because I'm not the hugest Ceramic fan because I think the A5 does the same job but with more naturalness to it. That and I barely use gain so flubbing out with an A2 in the bridge is seldom and issue.

Both PUs are good what what you want IMO. It's prolly good you got a Jazz with a cover. It's a bright PU from what I've experienced. The cover should help out a lot.

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

Help out? I mean, what difference could a cover make? (I am not saying it's not true, I just don't get it :D)

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

I've heard cover slightly fades the pickups brightness (high end). Don't know how true that is though

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

Umm some say its like putting a 250K volume pot on the bucker instead of a 500K. I see why but don't totally agree at the same time. It's not that dramatic of a change IMO but it does warm up the pickup a bit by giving the pickup a rounder top end and warming up the bass frequencies. It's not a total day or night thing but the difference is there.

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

Nice choice. I put a custom/jazz combo in my 92 LP studio a few years ago and never gone back. I had tried JB/59, a set of 59, distortion/59, custom 5/59. I realized I really don't like the Jb and the custom 5. The neck 59 had a great tone by itself but a little too boomy and the mix was not so great with the custom. Finally I have ended with the custom/jazz combo that I love. Very polyvalent with balls.
Someone said custom/PG is a great combo but I have never tried.

Re: They have been purchased!!!!

So, it's been some time since you installed them...

Could you give a more detailed 'review' or comments about them?

I must confess I 'betrayed' you and bought a set of P-Rails. I'll give you my impression about them when I get them installed =P
