Thicc distortion pedal

Hey there, I'm looking for a nice dist/fuzz pedal, something thick and chunky. Like that awesome early Weezer dark rhythm tone. Also, maybe something that doesn't absolutely demolish the bank? Any suggestions are apprectiated, thanks. Peace yo! :headbang:

Re: Thicc distortion pedal

Could you post an example of the tone you have in mind?

Yeah, a Big Muff Nano Pi would be a cheap place to start.

Some to consider:
Big Muff Pi - the distortion & bass can't be tamed enough for me.
Boss PW-2 - sounds like a Big Muff Pi, but it fixes my concerns with the EHx.
RAT - not enough treble, unless used with a separate EQ.
Boss MD-2 - The awesomest distortion I've ever used: light overdrive to Metal Zone territory, plus a bass knob to dial in the right amount of rumble.

Nano Bass Big Muff is another cool choice. No shortage of low end there and they're super affordable and everywhere. Works great for guitar.

Thanks! Haha only one I'm hesitant to consider is the RAT.

Re: Thicc distortion pedal

I've mentioned before, but I still think a DS-1 is a good match for being a thick sound with a bit of that harsh/fuzz edge on top. I also remember not being surprised that I read a lot of that tone was from a dimed pre-amp at low "listening" levels without any pedal; sort of captures that boxy, harsh roar that a lot of amps get when you do that.

...If we're talking about Muffs, I try to stay away myself (feel like they're always too mushy to be practical and the tone hides the minute you step on it) but yeah, for straight up power chord walls that matters less. I'd pick up a Nano/LBM, just because they're cheap. Neither sounds like a full sized Muff, but full sized Muffs sound different apart from each other anyway so... OR Devi Ever Soda Meiser; that pedal is too thick and fuzzy, and therefore could work for what you want.
