If i would want to change a thicker ceramic magnet to a thinner standard alnico, i think i have to use a shim. I cannot bring the coil nearer to the baseplate because the allen screws dont go through the baseplate of the DiMarzio Super Distortion!
Next: Shimming under the magnet or above? What material? wood?
Would this shimming affect the tone because it touches not longer the coils or the baseplate after shimming.
