Things to consider before changing speakers

High guys

Earlier I posted about a MG speaker change, and I want to change the speaker on my AC 15 VR. I played a gig last night with it and I had to turn it up louder than usual and I was impressed. It has its own sound, however the speaker is a stock 70 80. Not a fan.

I want to change it but speaker websites have all kinds of size and dimension info, its overwhelming. So apart from the obvious watts and ohms, what are the size and dimension numbers I should be looking at? Thanks.

celestion vintage 30 12" or celestion greenback 12". the vintage 30 does everything. the greenback does great blues/hendrix tones. the vintage has a bigger magnet-which i like. i have found that 12" speakers are best for guitars.

The AC15VR has a single 8 ohm 12" speaker. Just get another 12 inch guitar speaker, that has characteristics that you like, and pop it in there. Make sure to evenly tighten the mount screws when you install the new one.

Sounds easy enough then. Thanks!

This.

As far as picking a replacement speaker, a Celestion V30 is good and versatile, but would probably be a bit stiff and bright in a lower wattage clean amp like an AC-15. My first picks would be a Celestion Alnico Blue or Eminence Red Fang, but they're pretty expensive. Other good but less expensive options are a Celestion Greenback or Eminence Private Jack.
