Thinking about modding my Tele

I want a little more balls from the bridge, yet still maintain the tele vibe. I also was thinking about a P90 in the neck. I'm guessing the Duncan Vintage Soapbar would be the way to go?
Anyone pair a P90 with a tele bridge Pickup? I'm thinking either a JD, or Broadcaster for the bridge. What kind of P90 do you think would match well.
BTW, I'm not a high gain user, in fact I use light OD only. I like playing mostly clean, classic rock, some jazz, blues and other non-high-gain stuff.
What says you?

Re: Thinking about modding my Tele

I just put a set of Duncan Custom Shop pickups in this Tele. It's a candy apple red late 1980's MIJ Fender Tele Custom. White binding.

I ordered a "Tele Ala Strat" alnico 5 neck pickup and a Custom Shop alnico 2 Jerry Donahue. I wanted a little more detail than the stock Jerry Donahue and MJ nailed it. The CS Jerry Donahue is thick and snarly but a little clearer and more detailed - just like I wanted.

I'm very happy with this set. It's also fairly quiet for a single coil set but it's humcancelling when the two pickups are combined.

Well, my inspiration came from watching the "Blues Brothers" the other night and Steve Cropper's tele was the shiz. Candy Apple red with binding. As is mine, minus the binding. He has a black pickguard and what looked like a P90 in the neck.
So again, what P90 neck would you mate with a JD?

^ Antiquity, if you can stretch to it. Vintage, if you cannot.

Re: Thinking about modding my Tele

In the last tele i built, i used an EMG RT at the bridge and a chrome 60 in the neck. The next one i build will have a quarter pounder at the bridge and a seth lover neck pup.

The EMGs were noiseless and punchy, but the bridge pickup was a little thin sounding in the mids for what i want in a tele.
