thinking of making big changes to my strat! please vote

i am thinking about converting my strat to Hum/Hum. it is an alder body, maple fretboard.

here are the combos i am thinking about:

a pair of '59s

a '59 neck
JB bridge

a jazz neck
distortion bridge

a jazz neck
JB bridge

a jazz neck
'59 bridge

i want my bridge pickup to have good note definition and clarity while being tight and crunchy with my STRATDELUXER modded DS-1. used mostly for rythm playing.

the neck should be nice and warm with good note definition and clarity. it would be used for distorted leads and clean rythm playing.

if anyone has better suggestions as to what pickups i should consider, please feel free to let me know.

I think I Pearly Gates/JB combo might work as well. I tried a guitar with a Pearly Gates in the neck the other day, and it fit your descrition pretty well.


I'm getting a HSH Pearly Gates/Twang Banger/JB combo myself soon, if I can bring myself to whack out the Dremel tool and re-route my guitar.

I use the PGn and JBb combo in a strat and it works great. I use the neck for mostly soloing and the bridge for rhythm work. The JB stays well defined with distortion and the PG is nice in that it has a more 'loose' feel when I want something a little different.

Pearly Gates or Alnico 2 Pro neck would be my choice, along with a Blues Trembucker bridge. The '59 and Jazz are not what I consider warm neck pickups. If you're not dead set on high output bridge pickups, I think the Blues is the best bridge pickup Duncan makes.
