Thinline pup suggestions?

Hello all,
I'm new to the forum. I just picked up a Squire VM Thinline Tele. This if my first Squire, and I'm quite impressed with the playablity and sound from a sub 300dollar guitar. It comes with the Duncan Designed TE 101 bridge pup. I'm not sure as to which of Seymore pickups this one is voiced the closest to. But it's a bit bright for me. I"m more of a blues/rock player than a country/chicken picker. Im looking for a browner, thicker sound. I'm not looking for exremely hight output either, as I like warmth and I can overdrive with my amp. I was looking at the following Seymore Duncan's to possibly replace the bridge pup:
the Alnico 2 Pro APTL-1
the Jerry Donahue
the Quarter Pound STL 3
The QP may be too hot, not sure. I like the stock neck pup and I don't want too much difference in output.

Any opinions? Thanks guys.

Welcome to the forum. I'd suggest contacting Zhangliqun here on the forum and asking about a Paul Bunyan tele lead. I have one in my 69 Thinline RI and it's perfect for waht you're describing. It's stout, but not super hot, has sweet, airy highs that don't get ice-picky, and the low end is bigger than a vintage style pickup without getting boomy or overbearing.

I've got that same guitar. Love it. I agree with you about the neck pickup. Very nice.

The JD might be a good fit for what you're describing. Keep in mind that this is a Les Paul scale guitar with a semi-hollow body, so the overall sound may come out darker than your standard tele.

If you'd like more bite, but still want to stay rock-blues, I found the DiMarzio True Velvet T to be an excellent match for this guitar. Shimmery twang clean, great note separation, and more "oomph" than the Broadcaster I had in there previously. But still not a hot pickup like the QP is supposed to be -- maybe just on the upper end of the traditional Tele range.
