This is calling my name. Talk me into or out of it.

pretty much exactly what I've been thinking of for the past couple years. Now available as a special run direct from the factory. Ideally I wanted this to be an H-S guitar with 3-way switch and Duncans but it's a Strat. Swapping out that pickguard would be no trouble.

I dig it. It would look a whole lot better without a pickguard.

Black pearloid pickguard, rosewood neck. Single humbucker in the bridge.

Maybe something like this:

Maybe something like this:

Put a maple neck and a white/parchment pickguard on there and maybe you'll have something. At the very least it'd look less like halloween candy.

Orange sparkle... surely you can think of an excuse to buy that thing?

OMG. It looks like Liberace reincarnated. Ever consider an LP?

I'm with Blueman, that thing is a horrendous colour.

Re: This is calling my name. Talk me into or out of it.

Does it have the neck of an AM std? Or the 57 vintage neck?

I gotta say, the AM std neck doesn't work well for me at all.

If you're worried about the "manliness" of the finish on your guitar, you've got bigger issues than this forum can adress.

I say buy the axe.

I love it as is. That black pearloid is barf-making.

Let me rephrase the question.

How do I hide an orange sparkle guitar from the wife?

I bought it at lunch. The orange sparkle speaks to me in a cheesy 1970's muscle car kinda way. I couldn't resist it. I've only played it briefly but so far I'm really diggin' the jangly, vintagey, noisy single coil vibe. Pics and more info to come after I get a moment or two with it.

Tell her that you bought it for her, because the salesperson said that she'd like the sparkle. ;)

I dig sparkle paint jobs. Used to have blue and silver Squire SuperSonics. Didn't really dig that body style, but sure loved the paint job! Would love to have a red sparkle Strat. And that orange ain't too bad either.

How much would she get in the case of a divorce? If you would get all or most of everything you guys own, I would recommend going that route. It's the easiest.

There's 'manliness' and then there's good taste. Even the OP says it's kind of cheezy, which is being generous.
