Thomastik-Infeld string appreciation thread

I have been using nothing but Thomastiks on all my guitars for about twenty years. I still love them as much as I always have. Here's my rundown for different guitars:

On my acoustic I use these. Very warm sounding with a lot of clarity and punch:

On my old school Tele style guitar I use their electric flatwounds. Lively, full bodied, mellower sounding than the Bebop roundwounds. NO finger noise!. Roundwound and nickel wrap:

On my 72 Thinline style guitar I use these. A silk inlay in the wound strings attenuates the odd order higher frequencies in the harmonics (a T-I tech guy told me the silk filaments act as a "kind of mechanical filter"). A beautiful sounding electric string. Perfect for Humbuckers. Roundwound, nickel wrap:

And finally, on my Hamer T62 Strat type guitar, I use their Power Brights. A higher output string due to its alloy windings and its hex core is just flexible enough to give a nice easy playing feel. Nice and bright with sparkly overtones:

Yes, they are expensive. Are they worth it? For me, definitely yes, there's nothing else like them, and they do last a long time. You can get them from a couple of online string dealers for a big discount from full retail - although they're still pricey. So there you have it... I have no present affiliation with them - just a happy user.

I've heard nothing but good things about them.

I tried then and thought they sounded too bright under my fingers. I use D'Adarrio 115's and have been now for some time and they sound great and I get really good life. But everybody is different if these work for go for it. For me I felt for what I was getting they were way too expensive and when you have a lot of guitar as I do it all adds up

I'm not saying this was necessarily your experience, but one characteristic of most Thomastik strings is that they're bright to the point of being fizzy when first strung up. They settle in after a day or two and then sound like Thomastiks for quite a while.

Regards,
Mike
