Thoughts/experiences with current Variax models?

Basically what the title says. I just realized that many Variax use the Yamaha Pacifica as a base, and I've been wanting a SSS Pacifica. The modeling stuff would be a bonus. What do ya'll think of these guitars?

I've only tried the newer Variaxes at NAMM a few years ago, and I liked them. Miles better than the original series. You only really notice the models if you are doing things like fast palm muting, and then it feels strange. The new Variax really comes alive if you pair it with the Helix ecosystem, so you can change the settings on the fly. Another option is the Roland system, but you have to put their pickup on your guitar.

I own an original Variax Acoustic, which is still a fantastic instrument.

Played a couple unplugged in a shop last year. Felt great, resonant, well made. I've had a Pacifica as a beater for years, good axe. However my caveat is always "only buy what you can try" so you know that it feels great before you spend your money.
