Please post the one set you know to be that description in a basswood RG?
I got a buyer on my wolfgangs right before i posted this and am buying a duncan set and wanted to know, keeping in that type of tone(wolfgangs but better) which duncan set fits the bill?
bridge pup/ crisp, clear, tight, focused with a good high not over the top output with a lot of room for many styles all the way to the heaviest of them( i keep hearing the custom is this in spades?)
neck pup/ fat, clear, single coil'ish, good output to balance with bridge pup (jazz?)

i think a jazz/custom set would be cool and work well for what you describe, some dont like the cleans on the custom but with the jazz i bet the middle tone will be nice

jeremy sounds good and i dont care about the customs clean tone,i use a RG with a 5 way and the bridge/neck pups are split along with a single in the middle when in pos 2 and 4 :cool3:

yeah, then id give it a try, youll have to re eq your amp im sure but i think youll get great tone with that set

great i can get the TB 5 from a forum member here
and get a used jazz neck as well? but let me ask can you use a jazz bridge(logo on screw coil) in the neck? i ask because i want the coil that stays on while split to be closest to the neck? know what i mean? if i get a neck jazz(logo on stud coil) the coil that stays on when split will be closer to the bridge?

Re: tightest,punchiest,focused duncan set?

If the wrong coil is active when split, I'm sure there's a way to activate the other one with the green/white/red wires.

If you're willing to expand your horizon, then EMG is exactly what you want. Otherwise, I completely agree with Jeremy. Although I would go with the '59 for the neck because it's "chimey-er" "meatier" and more 3-dimentional to my ears in comparison to the Jazz.

Gotta agree. I'm going to do a similar thing with my RG that RG2570 does, but I'm going with the C5 bridge, undecided middle, PG neck setup.

Re: tightest,punchiest,focused duncan set?

bridge pup should Be 4 models : DUNCANS : DUNCAN CUSTOM, FULL SHRED.(BOTH FOR THE BRIDGE)
DIMARZIOS : PAF PRO, Air Classic.(Both for bridge too)

Neck models DIMARZIOS : Air Norton, Paf Pro, or even a Fred.
Neck models Duncans : Jazz(this is not so fat, you must try The 59 or a seth lover too), Full Shred, And , ahahah TEH SURPRISE, JB.

Re: tightest,punchiest,focused duncan set?

My FSb pup is VERY tight, focused and punchy. I love it for shredding in my ash strat! I'm sure it would be great in basswood, as well. BTW, I also have a wolfgang, and I love those pups, but the FS does better for 'shred' material than the wolfy pups (though I love them for many other things). I'm pairing the FS with a PGn right now, but the PG has a bit too much bass when the amp is set for the FS to sound great. The middle sound rules, though. I'm sure with a bit of height tweaking, the PG will be a great match for the FS.

BTW, if your buyer flakes on the Wolfy pups, let me know what you want for em'!
