Tightness question

I have an Epi Les Paul custom with the Jazz/JB set and it sounds MUCH tighter than my Schecter C-1 Classic which has dual DDs. I thought it was supposed to be the other way round? Isn't the Distortion tighter than the JB?

It's probably due to the qualities of the wood in the guitars.

Yes, especially with the ebony fretboard on your Custom.

I wouldn't call the JB a loose and flabby pickup by any means either.

What amp and pedals are you using? Some pickups get along with certain setups better than others.

It's an Epi Les Paul so the fretboard is rosewood. But this guitar sounds super tight on pretty much any pickup configuration, maybe it's just the guitar?
