In the Duncan world you have, in ascending order:
STK-S4n (Classic Stack Plus) & STK-S4m (Classic Stack Plus RWRP)
STK-S4b (Classic Stack Plus Bridge)
STK-S7 (Vintage Hot Stack Plus)
STK-S6 (Custom Stack Plus)
STK-S9 (Hot Stack Plus)

Just because the S4b says Bridge, you can use it in any position, same for all the rest. The “classic” calibrated set is S4n/S4m/S4b (vintage neck and bridge and just a slight bump
in the bridge for balance). If you want to bump it up a level you can do S4b/S4m/S7 or S4b/S4b/S7. There’s a great video of Jack Thammarat with the S7 in the neck.

Basically, there are a ton of options in the lineup.

I never noticed this before, but checked it since you asked. According to the website, the N/M/B go: 8.7k, 8.6k, 8.5k, in that order.

Weird.

Edit: If you select "Set", they all say 8.5k.

The STK-S6 Is a great bridge pickup for an SSS, it Is great for rock and using an SSL-1 or SSL-2 in the middle gives you a good quack sound.

And yes, I use an SSL-1 in the middle when using STK models in neck or bridge position, I use the regular 5 way switch with auto slipt option (like the HSH in Ibanez Jem). But you can always use a switch or push/pull to Split the STKs and go true single coil ok the fly if you really want yo try it.

i can attest to the fact they are not the same pup. being very familiar with the stks4n in the neck and putting a stks4b in the neck of a somewhat similar guitar, the s4b is darker and seems to have a touch more output

I have a STK-S4n, no middle, and STK-S7b in a Strat clone. Very nice combo. I would say the STK-S7b is the perfect extension of the STK-S4n (sound and output volume wise), just a tad more beefy to compensate for the weaker bridge position.

I tried the STK-S7 in the neck position but it was too dark and bass heavy for my taste (with 250k pots). It was developed as a bridge pickup and it shows in its eq.

I have a Charvel Wildcard #4 Aqua.

I'll go play this again, but IMO the STK4N's didn't seem as vintage single sounding as I'm reading.

I am also looking for a great noiseless single set, so I was thinking of going DiMarzio Areas, like the 58, 67 and Injector set.

edit: I played my stock Aqua, and I'd say the STK4N's are good enough. They don't have the same sound as say a 5.75K A5 classic single, but they sound good enough. I wish the volume pot had a push/pull for splitting the JB. I may have to do a mod.
