After getting my Strat back last week - tuning is finicky. We knew the tuners were crap in the 1st place - just deciding on a replacement.
Schaller's have a direct fit, but have the hole through the shaft al a Grover, ETC. The Ping tuners are rumored to be questionable here and there.
But I can put Hipshot lockers on without modifications. They have a kit to retrofit vintage tuners. Hopefully, this will be the ticket.
