To Pot or Not to Pot...

I've played primarilly potted Buckers my whole life... any take on advatages between covered and potted over not?

Also, I got my hands on some Koa PUP covers for my Ibanez AS200. Anyone ever use wood covers? what your take?

From what i understand covers round out the tone and output. I'm not looking for real hot output. Not my style. Looking for clean warmth. also i dig the look of covers...

potting wont change the sound all that much, maybe you lose a touch of air on the top end but most people wouldnt notice a change. never tried putting wooden covers on a pup

A wooden cover won't change the sound of an uncovered pickup. But removing metal covers does alter tone. It will make things brighter. A metal covered pickup will sound warmer than a similar pickup with a wooden cover.
