I turned my Les Paul from this:

To this:

It's not permanent, as I am just trying out a Gibson BB3/57c set that a buddy of mine took out in favor of a WLH set. Pickups actually sound pretty good. I still really dig the chrome covers, but at this point, I'm not opposed to Zebra coils. I think it would look better with the creams in the middle.

zebras!

The combination of 2 separate pigments in the pickup bobbins are actually the absolute secret to Randy Rhoads, SRV, Alexi Laiho, and Billy Gibbons legendary tone!

Re: To Zebra or not to Zebra........

I like the nickel covers the best. Blends well with the other hardware, reflector knobs, etc.

I have heard this as well. Hmmm...... you might be onto something....

Re: To Zebra or not to Zebra........

The nickel looks good with those knobs.

The zebras look great, but it would be perfect with these knobs and a black 3 way ring.

Re: To Zebra or not to Zebra........

I like them both the Covers look very classy. If you are not bothered about the slight drop in high end with the cover keep the covers.

Re: To Zebra or not to Zebra........

Zebras look great, I've been tossing the idea around for my beater '78 black beauty as well.

Re: To Zebra or not to Zebra........

Creme rings.

Creme poker chip

Black bobbins

Gold speed knobs.

That is all.

Roger.

Over.

The zebras, in either direction, look really cool in your guitar.

Re: To Zebra or not to Zebra........

Might look nice with a double cream in the bridge and the zebra in the neck. Or visa versa.Or a double black in the neck and zebra in the bridge.Or the other way around.

Another idea put the cover on the neck and a zebra or double cream in the bridge.

But it looks good as it is now.

Re: To Zebra or not to Zebra........

zebras! imo the best look for a les paul if the hardware isn't gold

Re: To Zebra or not to Zebra........

For me I'd go black/gold reflector top hats and keep the zebras. To finish I'd have some other SD buckers and have the neck zebra reversed from the way it is now.

I think the suggested black plastics look cheap, the speed knobs and three way switch, especially so on a LP custom.

Perhaps try Gibson P-94's in black/chrome?
I've got some Arcane PX-100's which is essentially a hotter version of the Gibson P-94. Tapatalk doesn't work with the upload though so I can't show you the result.

Re: To Zebra or not to Zebra........

I am wholeheartedly against gold hardware on my guitars. lol Especially this one.

I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but it's a dark grey, not black. :p

Yesterday I was looking on my laptop and thought it was black. Now that I can see the dark grey on a better monitor......ABSOLUTELY go nickel covers IMO.
