Today I ordered my very own Dyna Comp....

I've been hearing alot about these things for a pretty long while now, so i dropped the $69.99 for one at MF. Got a free MXR t-shirt too! Guess you can't go wrong there!

I know these are probably one of the most common compressor pedals out there, which is what fueled my purchase. I already have an MXR Phase 90 that i really really love, so i think i'll like the Dyna Comp a whole lot too. Anyone have any tips and/or comments about these things? It seems like it would be right up my alley since i play mostly clean country licks and i seem to be a little short on sustain sometimes. Plus the way its described as a pedal that "evens out" your tone sounds pretty usable too.

Any tips and/or comments would be greatly appreciated!!

hey, all the Country pickers use 'em, right?

great pedal, I had one until I traded it today but hey, it was a great pedal while I had it! There's a few mods you can do to it I'm sure, just check around.

Tips? It is twice as complicated as the Phase 90.

It has TWO knobs.:D

Usually, mine is set with both knobs at around 2:00.

Thanks guys. Today i got home from work really anticipating the ship confirmation email, only to get one of the famous "backorder notice" emails instead. Of the 5 items in my order, you can guess which one was backordered. It says the due date is November 2nd, which isn't really that far off, I was just hoping to have it by monday or so!

Gives me something to look forward to though!

I have a late-70's Dyna Comp that i paid $20 for at a pawn shop in a small town 9 hours drive away from Vancouver BC.... i was driving out there on holidays and saw a bunch of cool effects and stuff at a pawn shop out there... Boss pedals going for $20-$25 each... he said tourists are all that ever really buy the guitar stuff so he lets it go cheap to gte rid of it... If i was made of cash i would of bought all his pedals... that was 8 years ago and i have not been back since.... I live in Ontario so it's a not like it's next door...

Anyways i have never really figured out how to use mine.... but i see a few players i love kicking them in for sustian during solos......

Yeah, i'm still trying to grasp what it is exactly that they do. I know about the "clean sustain" thing and they say that compressors do a "squish" to your tone, but i guess its something you have to play around with on the knobs and kinda get your own sound out of it. But i guess since its a must have in the studio for most country players, then i guess its something i get some real use out of since 80% of my playing is clean country stuff.

Sometime after Nov. 2nd i guess i'll get to find out!!
