Today's dumb Q: reversing zebra [URL=http://s427.photobucket.com/user/dannew20pickups

Ok so I have this D.C.-LP copy that I've been working on for... far too long (70's Hondo set-neck, maple neck/Sen body, if it matters) I picked up a set of Artec Alnico 2 pups for it ages ago. If I install them the proper way, the white coils go to the inside, and everybody knows Zebras are supposed to go the other way 'round- black on the inside, or else the guitar looks "cross-eyed". Or something. So if I turn them both around so I like how they look, is it going to screw up the polarity, or something? I was planning on "standard" LP-style wiring (2-v 2-t, 3-way, nothing crazy) I know I could just buy another set of pups, but I already have these, and Daddy don't gots any money's right now...
Thank you

I like Cream on the inside or creams to the neck.

If you don't care about the location of the screws/slugs, you can easily reverse the pickups. Orientation is unrelated to phase, etc.

You couldn't be more wrong.

The original zebras from Gibson in the late 1950's had cream slug coils. To me, that is the correct zebra and SD got it wrong / backwards. I prefer them the original way, so I'm interested in this thread for correcting the pickups that you think are wrong.

I always use cream coil slugs (when not using my double white Strats.
So, I always turn my neck p'up so the screws face the bridge. With both coils open and cream slugs showing, it looks very nice, both cream slugs facing the neck. Very easy on the eyes, and I turn my neck p'up 180 degrees to get as much treble out of them as I can.
Not sure if it makes that much difference, but on paper it makes sense. Using my paper, of course. It does NOTHING to the sound like PETER GREENS'. To put them out of "phase" like Greenys' you have to flip the magnet OVER. Turning it 180 degrees does not change the polarity between pickups.
Some more .02 cents.
