Re: tolex question
Yeah, since Matchless and Bad Cat use vinyl, not regular tolex or levant.
The only issue is it's thickness, because it's more difficult to bend into crevices, staying put.
In my experience, and I've applied vinyl to cabs before, is this...
The wood has to be sanded smooth and dry. You have to use industrial strength spray glue....the strongest type by 3M. You liberally spray that on all the big panels, so there's no air bubbles. Once it's dried, you get to the small folds. I've had the best luck with carpet seaming glue and a brush. This glue is so strong, it makes it possible to fold the vinyl into the angled parts. Using an ice scraper or piece of wood, you can bend the vinyl into those areas till the glue holds.
So essentially, try industrial spray glue for most of the amp, and carpet seaming glue or tile glue for the angled areas. The biggest obstacles are bubbles, so you've got to make sure there's no spots that aren't completely saturated with glue.
