TOM to wraparound bridge

Are there any issues with putting a wraparound bridge in place of a TOM bridge on a guitar. I'm thinking about doing it for my Eastwood Classic 6 guitar. I have a wraparound bridge on a Gretsch that looks like an LP Jr. I managed to get the intonation pretty well on it with a standard wraparound bridge. I know there are intonatable wraparound bridges where you can adjust for individual strings so please don't comment about intonation issues. I'm mostly concerned with structural issues.

Well... the posts won't line up. The posts on a wraparound are spaced the same as the tailpiece on a Tune-O instead of the bridge itself, so you'd have to fill in the wholes and re-drill them if you want to change a Tune-O to a wraparound.

Re: TOM to wraparound bridge

I considered this on my epiphone 56 goldtop. Not practical at all unless you can plug the holes & reshape the top. You also need a drill press to be deadon accurate for the bushing holes.

Re: TOM to wraparound bridge

Yep. Filling of the 4 holes for your current bridge/tom setup, then drilling for a wrap......and if its a true wrap you have several offsets from centre you have to calculate for the strings to run in line.

Doesn't it increase string tension?

Looking at your specific model, it wouldn't be as difficult as a Les Paul for example, but you'd be giving up a drastic amount of intonation range. Your string tension would change too. I'd keep it as is or find something similar to what you're looking for.

String length behind/beyond the scale length affects feel. As does the back angle the strings travel on.
