Tone Pros bridge question???

Hey guys. I've ordered an aluminum tonepros bridge/tailpiece assembly on my next guitar, and I was wondering: Is it the tailpiece and bridge that are aluminum? I would hope that the saddles are not aluminum. Are the saddles some type of steel or other dense material? It doesn't seem like aluminum saddles would be a good idea. I work in a fab shop with many types of metal, and even the hardest aluminum isn't as tough as steel or other dense metals. It would seem that aluminum would lead to wear issues with continued use. Mind you, I looked on the Tonepros website, and I could not find anything that told me what the chemical composition of the bridges are. Does anyone have some insight on this issue?...

Re: Tone Pros bridge question???

I would assume the saddles are not aluminum.

On another note.....I wonder if the tail piece should be aluminum or whatever else you could have gotten? Some guys swear buy using an aluminum tail and the locking studs.....with the regular tone pros bridge. Some guys like the heavier tone pros bridge....brass? zinc? Not sure...but you might get a deeper and more solid tone as Lew has suggested.

Re: Tone Pros bridge question???

IIRC the tailpiece is available in zinc (heavy) or aluminum (light), but I think the bridge construction is the same regardless of which tailpiece you get. I agree that aluminum would be a lousy material for saddles.

Re: Tone Pros bridge question???

The Tone Pros system is zinc alloy, unless you order the aluminum tailpiece. The bridge is zinc alloy, but the saddles are brass unless you order the graphtec saddles.

Re: Tone Pros bridge question???

When I cut the nut slots on my McCarty Toneprose adjustable bridge, the metal looked like brass or zinc alloy underneath. The tone seems a little brighter than the stock aluminum bridge, but the sustain and clarity of notes is what you gain.

Re: Tone Pros bridge question???

The original PRS bridge pieces are brass according to PRS techs and also Tone Pros techs.

I am confused how the locking mechanism provides more clarity, note articulation and sustain. Most say it is not a functional upgrade.
