Tone styler

I picked up one of these at NAMM. I always thought that that was a lot of money for a tone pot, but the price kicked butt at the show- huge discount so I got one. I put on my LP jr with a Rio Grande blues dawg, and it is totally cool! All of the positions are really cool and usable. I didn't like how a regular tone contrlo had about 1/3 of a turn before it became useless, and I use my tone a lot, especially on a 1 pup guitar like this. This guitar is now as versitile as a 2 or 3 pup guitar. You can get a great woman tone on the lower positions, and even all they way on the last position it sounds cool.
I want to get some on all my guitars- I think it would be really great on a tele!

Re: Tone styler

does the tonestyler still click when turning through the notches?

edit: i meant audible clicks through the amp.

Re: Tone styler

At first mine did when there was a note or chord sustaining, but so do regular togles or strat switches. But It doesn't seem to do it as bad since I've been using it more. I had a rehearsal last night with it and it is one of the coolest things I've done to my guitars.

Listen to Voodoo chile- you can get nice effect by sustaining a note and moving the pickups selector. So clicking is not sll bad...

Re: Tone styler

I bought my third ToneStyler at NAMM. This one goes in my new SG. My first one went into my LP Special with P90s (Duncan SP90-3 on the bridge), the second into my LP Custom on the bridge Duncan Custom 5. You bet, the NAMM discount made the pot a steal!

The current production models do not click, unless you are sustaining a loud sound while you turn the knob. Even so, it isn't very loud and it won't hurt anything. If you turn it without playing, it's dead quiet.

I said several months ago that LP Junior players would love this pot. Yeah, you can get woman tone on your bridge pickup. With just a few dips into the knob, the midrange bite of a P90 really cuts through, and the guitar just sounds louder. With the Custom 5, the changes aren't quite as obvious but there are still plenty of usable tones to discover.

I HIGHLY recommend this upgrade!
