Tone test! Lemme know whatcha think

Re: Tone test! Lemme know whatcha think

Sounds really good on its own; Huge fat tone, but it stomps all over the drums and bass.
I think this tone would need to be thinned a bit in a proper mix.

What guitar? Pickups? Amp Model?

Re: Tone test! Lemme know whatcha think

I think it sounds cool as long as it stays alone. But with drums and Bass ,it's too much..At least for your "normal" riffing.
But for more Industrial stuff ,it can be killer!

Re: Tone test! Lemme know whatcha think

Yeah, the drums are there just for me to keep time. No bass recorded as yet, but I agree, it'll chew up everything else as is. The model is a JCM800 w/boost, reverb, delay, comp, & chorus. Guitar is the HellRaiser with both pickups on, something I never do.

Re: Tone test! Lemme know whatcha think

good tone, needs a little *hair* bit more definition in the bass and mids, something that could be fixed in the mix process in a "real" song. Good work...keep them clips coming.

I really like it when you're doing those heavy chords. Really meaty tone! More fan of the tone of the guitar when using chords rather than the riffing. I am not sure why though.

Re: Tone test! Lemme know whatcha think

Tor, I agree completely, it works much better on the chords. I'll probably use this one for the next Deftones-ish clip I do ("Deftones-ish" to me is a mellow clean verse + a huge distorted chorus).

Re: Tone test! Lemme know whatcha think

I'll have to listen to that new clip. It will sound great, I am sure. :)

Re: Tone test! Lemme know whatcha think

OK, original link has been updated. Same amp model settings, but this time the left channel is the HellRaiser 81, & the right is the Ibanez RG with the 85. With no neck pickup, I think there's plenty of room for bass & drums now.

Re: Tone test! Lemme know whatcha think

I like it better....Still a bit muddy compared to your other clips. I can't really tell the difference between left and right channels. The lead guitar parts really add a new dimension to these heavy chords.

Re: Tone test! Lemme know whatcha think

Better ,but still lacks some definition.Too boomy ,just not that loud!..
But for that kind of music ,it fitts well in the mix!
