Tone Wizard???

Why is it that no situation on the the tone wizard shows up a Pearly Gates set or Alnico II Pro set for a Les Paul Standard? I would think that because they are so close to early Gibson PAF's, they would be suggested. The '59 is suggested, which I understand, but no low output alnico II magnet pickups.

By the way, I have both those sets in two of my Les Pauls and love them! Can't believe they're not recommended. I play some pretty heavy, high gain stuff too!

Re: Tone Wizard???

They are depending on how you fill out the answers. The pickups are chosen based on a combination of all of the factors including the types of woods and the style of music you like. With styles such as bluse and country, the Pearly Gates, AIIPros, and Antiquities may be recommended.

The TW only gives the easy/popular/common answers. It's more of a Tone Rent-a-magician-for-kids-parties

What can the true mages do for you? Tell us your problems and we'll look into our crystal tone balls....

Re: Tone Wizard???

Exactly as the Aceman says. For example, you will never get any sort of PATB recommended by the tone wizard. It's a good way of getting a suggestion if you have absolutely no experience with Duncan pickups, but the forum is definitely mo' betta.
