Tracking down super twang!!

Gday legends,
I've got a strat copy which i'm wanting to get the most tele twang possible out of it while still keeping a bit of versatility.
I'm wanting a HSS configuration. What my thoughts are so far are to get a five two for the neck, a little '59 for the mid and a P-rails for the bridge. I'm not expecting much twang out of the P-rails but that's where i'm expecting to find a bit of versatility.
Have you guys got any other suggestions, i'm wanting the neck pickup to have the chrome cover to replicate a tele.
Cheers guys

Agreed...just get a pickguard routed for the smaller Tele neck pickup and use the real thing!

Re: Tracking down super twang!!

Its the bridge that you get twang out of in a Tele.
The neck.....especially with the thick brass cover will be a muffled tone. Not sure if thats the bit you're after.....most tele owner want to get rid of that aspect.

Thanks guys, what would be the best trembucker sized pickup for a tele then? I've already got the pick guard for it. Cheers

A Stag Mag is a good split sound, although more Strat than Tele. The Twang Banger is a Tele-ish pickup, but it is a single coil. However, twang is great but not versatile. If versatility is the goal, just stick with the P Rail and appropriate switches.

I suggest you get a real tele neck PU. And then do the Antimud wiring trick. That way you get the neck UP straight to the jack. Giving as much sparkle as possible. Another cool thing is that you get a tone pot that is dedicated to the bridge and middle PU only. That way dialing in the best tone is easier. You never use anything but the tone full on in the neck anyway. That's what I do to my teles anyhow.
