i didn't have time to buy it last night, but i'm going today. before i make that final decision, i'd like some feedback/pros and cons. is this the best tube combo at that price? i'd especially like to hear some traynor sound clips if anyone has some. also, anyone think i'd be better off with the kustom 36? thanks in advance for everyone's input.

Re: traynor red ycv40wr

I tried one in a shop a while ago and was more than pleased with it. Nice cleans, good crunch. Up here in Canada they are a steal, especially on the used market... If I still had a band I'd buy one right now, even if I have my JCM800 combo as my main amp.

got it. traded in my vox and paid $200 to get it. man this thing sounds so damned good!

Glad to hear it man. I was definitely hoping you'd end up with the Traynor due to my positive experiences with my two Traynors. But tone is in the ear of the beholder and I didn't want to push too hard and you end up not liking it. For the money, I don't think you can find a better tube amp than Traynor's custom tube series.

i can't wait to record something with it. now all i have to do is save up some money for a boss br600 recorder

I hope you'll be happy with yours! I've had my red tolexed Traynor for more than a year now, and I'm still very happy with it. I'd advise you to pick up the matching extension cab for it (it really sound much better with the cab) whenever you get some cash together . . .

+1

My blue extension cab underneath the YCV-50 really added depth girth to the tone. Plus, I felt more comfortable running the volume hot and not worrying about a blown speaker. I actually like the wine red tolex better than the blue stuff. But the EL34's in the 50 were what drew me to it, not the color.

that sounds nice, but i need to save up for a recorder first. i've got my eye on that boss br600. you ever tried one of those?
