Treble bleed

Just ried the treble bleed thing. Made an improvement over the somewhat bright highs of the TB-6 distortion. Kinda gave it a darker more vocal vibe. I used a .001 for a tad off the highs then for the hell of it I tried a .047 and it sounded very dark and vocal but masked too, almost like the tone knob was on but different. I think .047 is too much and almost unusable on a bridge pickup for most applications but it was cool to see the difference.
I will keep the .001 on for now and maybe experiment with small incriments and see what it does. Does anyone have experience with other # caps for the treble bleed mod? What are most prefered?

Re: Treble bleed

Are you sure you did a "treble bleed" mod? Like this:

treble bleed mod

This mod should add high frequencies, not remove them. And a .047 should add more than a .001.

You may want to double check your wiring. If you accidently wired across the wrong two terminals, (the left two in that diagram), you'ld get what you're experiencing. ;)

Also, the treble-bleed mod only has affect as you roll the volume down. When the volume control is at "10", its completely removed from the circuit. If you could hear a difference, when the volume is up, you've done something else. (As in, using the wrong two terminals. Or, applying it to the tone control, instead of the volume control.)

Artie: I think he's talking about my treble bleed mod, which is designed to tame a too bright guitar by bleeding some of the treble to ground. It's kinda the opposite of the treble bleed volume control mod.

Ah . . . I see.

In the words of the great Roseanne Rosannadanna . . . nevermind. :laugh2:

YEAH THATS THE ONE.
IT MAY BE CALLED SOMETHING ELSE.
CAN YOU SPECIFY THE MOD YOU ARE REFERING TO TO SEE IF I DID IT RIGHT?
