Treble Booster vs. EQ.

So, Iommi and Blackmore used them and they are tone gods in my book. So is there difference between a treble booster and an equalizer these days ? Meaning can an EQ do that treble booster used to ?

You have more overall control with a EQ.

An EQ unit can do whatever a treble booster does, but it can do a lot more.

An EQ is not gonna give you the same effect as a treble booster...sure you could push up some of the treble in the tone as well as the oerall level but a true vintage style treble booster actually has gain of it's own and is a very different sound.

If you want to use an EQ to push your amp and taylor the tone a bit go for it but if you want to cop a tone that was created with a treble booster (Blackmore, Iommi, Clapton, May, etc) get a treble booster...

An EQ is not gonna give you the same effect as a treble booster...sure you could push up some of the treble in the tone as well as the oerall level but a true vintage style treble booster actually has gain of it's own and is a very different sound.

Ok, this is interesting, may be I need a treble booster more than a EQ for those Iommi/Blackmore mids and brightness .... How is this ?

It would actually be a lot cheaper to build one, a Rangemaster-style boost like what Iommi and Blackmore used is very easy to build. Instead of paying 100 USD for the pedal, you could have one for maybe 30 USD (I think). The BBE one also doesn't say if it has Germanium transistors in the circuit, which are pretty much necessary to get the Blackmore/Iommi sound!

Are there any problems associated with using a treble booster while using tube screamer ??? I never have soldiered in my life, and at this point don't have the time to learn to start, so besides the one availble at MF what other booster would you recommend.

Once again, bump. How will BBE treble booster work with TS9? what does it push pre-amp in to the earlier breakup too ???
