Treble response on Screamin' Demon Alnico 8 for Floyd Rose Super Strat?

I got a chambered Warmoth strat body, mahogany wth a maple cap/roasted maple neck floyd rose setup. I was going to put in a Screamin demon in the neck and a screamin demon in the bridge with an alnico 8. My question is:

Will the high frequency response be too much in the bridge? I heard the alnico 8 rounds off the highs and the demon output isn't too much but i hope it is useable. I will be playing through either a Fender Super Sonic or a Helix depending on the gig.

I also put a double row of screws in the bridge pickup, I haven't got it wired up yet, saving up for a guitar tech to wire it up right now

It's up to you, man.

I've got mine in an Ash body Strat with a maple neck and fretboard, with an UOA5 magnet and it's a nasty, clanky beast in a great way. Haven't tried the stock A5 magnet yet just because I'm lazy, I've had that magnet for years there.

Haven't tried it with an A8 magnet in years either, and I wouldn't trust my opinion from 5 years ago today. Yours is a very unique situation, with a very specialised pickup and an uncommon magnet. I say experiment away and let us know how it goes.

Unusual gear choices will deliver unusual tonal responses, and that's interesting. You can always pop a trusty ol' JB and sound like everybody else if you feel like it. ;)

I was just thinking about something similar today

I have a Charvel Model 3Dr with a Demon A8 in the bridge. I absolutely love the tone this pickup has, but i have come to the conclusion that it is way too bright in a Basswood body guitar. It will be replaced with an Allan Holdsworth AH1BJ NOS i have in my pickup bin. also, the pickup has also gone microphonic, which may have been from the mag swap. Doh!

With that said, i think in an Alder body strat, this would be the perfect pickup. Unfortunately, the strat i have that i would want to put it in is a 90s HRR, which is Basswood.....That guitar will get my JB Concept/35th aniv trembucker.

I am gathering parts to make a KNE alder body super shredder explorer. I want to have this A8 Demon re-potted and use it as a neck pickup. I have plans for the bridge pickup already.

Sounds cool!!

I thought basswood was a darker tonewood.

I hope I didn't Accidently damage the wax potting on my bridge pickup during the magnet swap either. LOL I'll get the guitar setup and wired/report back with the results. Thank you!

Thats a good point. I always thought basswood was a bit less dense than Alder. It maybe the maple neck as well that makes it pretty bright and the fact there is no tone pot (only has a volume). I really want to put my standard trembucker version Demon into a strat. That will be for my next strat build when the time comes :)
