Trem-speced Duncans in Colors??

A couple months ago I needed a blue trem-spaced Custom5. All of the dealers I check with said colored Duncans are not available in trem-spaced.

Is this correct? If so, why?

I wanted some blue pickups for my Ibanez 7VSBL but went with white instead. I still think blue would have looked killer. I debated going with a blue regular spaced.

I always thought that was kind of weird yet they went with covers...

You'd think that most of the trem spaced pickups would go to guitars with Floyd Roses and in general those guitars are more colorful and flashier than their hard-tailed counterparts so colored bobbins would fit well. But I don't see many people using Floyd Rose guitars with pickup covers...

I guess you could always cet some of those: http://www.universaljems.com/cart/bobbin.htm

Any idea if you could fit those covers over say a Vintage Rail and make it look like a single coil PUP? From a distance, it would look like a single coil. Kind of lame up close I guess.

I want the performance of a humbucker rail with the looks of a single coil. LOL.

The bobbin toppers work ok, but they do start to peel. One thing that irked me is that even ordering a trem spaced cover the poles don't line up that closely for me to think it looks real. Maybe it works better on Dimarzio pups as their spacing is different and I only tried in on my Pearly Gates pickup.

Kallsop ... have you looked at the Classic Stack for strat?

It's a noiseless pickup with the sound and appearance of a normal single coil ... don't know how close it sounds to a VR though

Thanks for the advice. That is about the best compromise I think - humbucker that looks like a single coil.

I think I'm going to try two of those with a Little 59 in the bridge. So many great choices!
