hi all. i have a telecaster deluxe that im getting a custom made pickguard for from warmoth. its going to have the "gibson" sized humbucker route in the bridge position. http://www.warmoth.com/pickguards/pickguards.cfm?fuseaction=pickguards_tele_custom . i want to get a covered JB for the bridge. do i need a trembucker? will the "gibson" route even fit a trembucker? or will a normal sized bucker be fine? i dont want to do any mods to the pickguard so if it only fits a normal size pickup i will just probably get that. please help. thanks

If your using the humbucking bridge plate for Teles, then the two I've used were both standard sized.

no its a route on a pickguard because its a 72 reissue. but thanks thats helping me decide.

Re: trembucker or normal 4 my tele deluxe?

I'm doing the same thing on my tele dlx. I'm going with a Jazz for the neck but have not decided on a bridge pup yet. The jazz/pearly gates combo is solid in my LP but the 72 reissue is a completely different beast. You're good w/ a jazz neck in most guitars.

I'm using the warmoth pickgaurd as well and installing an upgraded wire harness with the 500k pots. Ill let you know how it turns out when complete.

I have a squier cusom 2 that i converted to a jazz/ jb(trembucker) used to have p-90s. The trembucker jb lines up perfectly!! also, i have a mahog. tele deluxe body from warmoth, which is also getting covered hbs, most likely a trembucker. i have also tried a alnico pro bridge hb,(covered) didnt line up as well for the strings, but was close. the p/g i used for the squier was a squier tele custom 1 p/g from guitar parts resource. let me know about the warmoth gaurd if the trembucker fits.

I have a 72 Tele Dlx with Warmoth body and pickguard cut for regular Gibson humbuckers. the trem-spaced pickups line up perfectly with a Fender hardtail bridge. when I need an uncommon pickup like a covered trembucker, I usually call up Banjo Mike's in PA. he sells on Ebay too though . . .in fact he has one available right now:

this should help CasterKid too - CustomCustom Trembucker installed and lines up perfectly

guitar is trans butterscotch over 1-piece swamp ash, BWB pickguard, Callaham hardtail bridge, Duncan zebra pups (soon to be all black Tom Andersons).

Looks just like my custom squier(sorry) but with wayyyyy better wood.
Btw wtf is agaithis anyway? (have to get another warmoth body me thinks).
Lovely guitar!! I am getting a digital camera soon and will post picks of all my gear.

:) she's a workhorse - plain-Jane looks but killer tone.
I'd highly recommend the Callaham hardtail bridge for your Warmoth 72. Probably run you about $65 shipped instead of ~$30 for a Fender-branded bridge but the increase in sustain is a plus! you could probably just get the saddles if you already have a bridge.

agathis? depends on the species. usually a soft tonewood similar to alder but some are closer to Philippine mahogany. it's cheap and widely available in the south Pacific area.

The squier was a impulse buy, but i'm glad i did it. the neck on this thing is like half a baseball bat and it just fills my hand nicely. I will def. check out the bridge ,though. I'm building the warmoth mahogdeluxe to perfect the shortcomings of the squier.

Re: trembucker or normal 4 my tele deluxe?

So how did your guy's mods turn out? I just picked up a '72 Tele Deluxe RI and I am ordering a standard HB pickguard from WD and I was planning on putting P-Rails in it.

Re: trembucker or normal 4 my tele deluxe?

Does anyone know if the 72 Deluxe pickguard will cover the control cavities on a standard tele body? I am thinking of doing a conversion. I am aware that the 72 is cut for a strat neck pocket.
