Trembucker or Standard spacing for Strat

Is anyone using a standard space humbucker in a Strat with a standard Strat bridge. I`ve have Trembucker in my Strat that lines up well , the high E and low E are a touch off but nothing major . Anyone know how far off a the standard space humbucker would be ? It`s a Highway 1 Strat if that matters.

Re: Trembucker or Standard spacing for Strat

When it comes to putting a humbucker in Fender Strats, I always use a Trembucker. Why not? Otherwise the polepieces sit just to the left or right of the two E strings. With a standard spaced humbucker, when I bend a note and pull the high E across the fretboard it gets a little louder when it actually is pulled over the polepiece. With the Trembucker spacing the string is the right volume from the get go. Lew

5150, the wolfgang set you sold me has a non tremspaced bridge pup as all wolfgangs are and i have NO problems the outer part of the two E string poles
are under the string good enough to make a good signal.
i heard many times before guys using non floyd spaced pups with good tone and no volume probs.

Re: Trembucker or Standard spacing for Strat

I've got both setups. There are pros and cons to each. If I had to choose between a trem-spaced in a guitar that doesn't need it or a regular-spaced in a guitar that does I would take the regular-spaced. Reason? If you are going to have a situation where the poles don't line up on the outside strings perfectly I would rather have the poles inside of the strings than outside of the strings. That way, when you bend the outside of the strings they move over the poles as opposed to away from them. I just went through this with my Jackson SLSMG which had a 2" bridge spacing and is just slightly off on the trem-spaced so I put a regular C5 in there. It's all personal preference I guess.

And of course, back in the day there was no such thing as a trem-spaced or F-spaced pickup and it all worked just fine then ;)

i use both, i try and get trem spaced but if i cant i dont sweat it. i usuallly end up raising the pole piece thats off a little to balance the volume but it solves any issues i have

Re: Trembucker or Standard spacing for Strat

This is the Q i keep asking. But never get a reply that satisfies me
I cant decide which one to ogo in for. The distance from my lower E to higher E at the bridge pick up is exactly 2". Now what should I go in for. I went throught the FAQ. The FAQ sugests trembuckers if distance from low E to high E is greater than 2", and regular humbuker if les than 2".

any ans?
What do u say lew?
