hi guys,
i am looking at a t-rex fuel tank jr 9 volt power supply for my pedals, there are five 9 volt outlets on the supply, each 9 volt outlet gives 120 miliamps of power, so how many standard pedals could i run safely from this power supply ????? could i run 2 pedals from each outlet, so maybe running 10 pedals from five outlets, please let me know guys,

You can start toward a solution here by looking at the pedals you're going to power off the T-Rex and seeing how much current each of them draws. 120mA is a fair amount of 9V current, when it comes to small effects pedals, many of which draw just a few milliamps. Some draw in the tens of milliamps range, so you'll want to know exactly what you're dealing with.

Some pedals will list their current draw on the label -- often a sticker with various information on the bottom. Sometimes it's screened on along with a polarity indicator next to the power-in jack. Sometimes you'll have to look at the manual or the manufacturer's website.

But if you're looking at ten garden-variety 9V pedals, and five outputs that can each do 120mA (simultaneously), you're probably fine. 9-volt batteries can't deliver much current anyway, and a pedal designed to run off one probably isn't going to tax the T-Rex too badly. If you run across a pedal that uses a dedicated adapter but doesn't run on batteries, it is probably a big current hog, and you should definitely find out the voltage and current it needs before hooking it up to the T-Rex.

I just got me a Thomann clone of the power supply. It all depends on the current draw of the pedal. For example, in the package there is a serial cable that you can use to power five pedals from a single output if their draw doesn't exceed the total 120 mA. You can also use two outputs on one pedal that requires more juice. It seems pretty versatile.

Keep in mind that some pedals may get interference if you use a single output for all of them.

I've got the Trex Fuel Tank junior and I run 3 pedals, a Boss TU-2, Ibanez Tubescreamer and the ISP Decimator G string. Works fine and never had any powering or noise issues. Just make sure you check the mA amount on each pedal, if its a standard 9v one its rarely higher than 100mA I think each output has 120mA of power.

Don't buy a power supply that can't accommodate all the pedals on your board. You'll just run into problems. Pay more and get the larger blue Fuel Tank.....or better yet, a Voodoo PPII+.

It looks to me that the eight outputs of the Classic put out a total of 500mA.

Just in case, it looks to me based on shop descriptions that the outputs on the Fuel Tank Classic aren't isolated like they are on the Junior. If it bothers you, consider something else or just get the smaller one.

I wouldn't buy the T Rex. I A/B tested it with a Pedal Power 2. The T Rex ADDED noise to my signal. The reason is because the T Rex shares a ground for all the connections. The Pedal Power has seperate ground for each 9v. Clean signal. Buy the Voodoo labs stuff man.

I know they're not cheap, but you'll only have to do this once. Get the Voodoo Lab PPII+.

You'll know where the extra money went when your pedalboard is running clean and quiet.

Never had noise issues with my Fuel Tank Jnr and not heard of any ADDING noise to their setup.
