the other day i went to the music store and tried out one of the new charvels that has teh EVH pickup.
now, im almost positive that there may have been a wiring problem because it sounded like it was either split or in parallel. regardless of that, it sounded great. im gonna go back and try one of the other charvels that has them in it, just to make sure.
from what i can see, it sounds kinda like what i would like. a slightly overwound PAF, great harmonics. it has an A2 magnet right? that's also some really cool, i've never tried an A2 pup before, and this was pretty cool.
now, to my question...
would the 78 be worth the money, or would it be a better idea to go after something like the Demon or the PG to get a tone similiar(overwound PAF)
i would be using this for the stuff i do in church, less distortion and more of a smoother tone. but still be able to cut through in the right situations.
i already have a JB in one guitar, and a DD in my les paul, i guess i would like a less compressed tone, more natural, and less hot, but still having good harmonics(because i feel, with the right equipment, i could have some real cool 80's metal fun with my floyd equipped guitarv
)
i know the 78 is quite expensive, but is it really worth all the hype and all that stuff?
