Due to a career change and the death of a parent the build took more than a year but last night I completed the amp. This morning I was able to dime it and really let it loose.
I've owned a Matchless DC30 and let me tell you this amp does it justice. It sounds incredibly good even cranked through a Peavey Classic 112e cab. No matter how much I turned it up there wasn't a hiss or sputter to be found. Essentially it puts out acres and acres of pure tone.
I'd like to publicly thank Stephen over at Trinity Amplifiers. I'm an electronics novice an he always took time to answer my questions and give advice. He was really on top of things the last several days as I was completing the build. If any of you are looking to build a kit amp please look at Trinity as they really go above and beyond. www.trinityamps.com
I'd also like to thank Scott F. who is a member of this forum. Early on in the build he offered to help whenever I had a question. He was always great about responding and giving me advice. It's guys like this who selflessly offer to help us newbies that make the experience. If you aren't into building a kit amp go over and check out Scott's amps over at www.celticamplifiers.com. He can build you a great amp.
Thanks to the SD company for hosting such a great forum. I never would have heard of Trinity Amplfiers if I hadn't started out here.
I thank the rest of you too. I have owned some great amps but I got the DIY bug from you! If you're thinking about building your own amp I say go for it. It's a very rewarding experience and it will increase your knowledge of electronics and amplifiers.
