Fender makes/made these- so did Hamer? Is there a point?

In triple-coil mode it can't possibly buck any hum- Correct? My guess is you'd basically have the possibility to switch between two different humbucking two coil pairs pivoting around the middle, select any coil individually, or just use a big noisy/humming full-triple sound. Is this actually a compelling setup at all, or am I missing something?

From what I gather, there really is no point. It just adds to the idea that excess isn't always better. If you can have one coil, you can have two, and if two is ok, then three is.... and so on.

The only potential I have ever seen in one is as a neck pickup where you could switch between standard neck humbucker location and a tighter 24 fret humbucker location.
