Truss rod adjustment

ehdwuld

A Ficus
Ok just to be sure
I have a hump in my daughter's ERI guitar
It's a back bow
Strings rattle out unless I raise the bridge super high

Should be a double acting truss rod

When I turn it counter clockwise it gets no better

Am I turning it Right?
The maker seems to think I'm doing it wrong

He told me it was impossible for the truss rod to be broken

Just for the record

Clockwise if bowed
Counter clockwise if humped

Is this right?

Re: Truss rod adjustment

Yea typically, but not sure about double acting truss rods. Try going back the other way like 1/4 turn to see if it gets better or worse. Only small turns and remember to retune, which also affects everything.

Re: Truss rod adjustment

Yeah seems I didn't go far enough

The seller said go the other way

Went clockwise and the hump got worse

Farther counter clockwise was the answer

Re: Truss rod adjustment

Occasionally a neck will take a while to respond fully to adjustments. Usually it shapes up right away, but in serious cases I prefer to do them a quarter turn at a time and check again after a couple of hours.

Re: Truss rod adjustment

I had been doing the small increments
On most every thing else

But on this one I cranked on it and it seemed to move when I was doing it

But the next morning it was right back with the hump

I gotta check it today
